Most Embarrassing Professional Moment

I grew up as an avid Redskins fan, with the commensurate disdain for the Dallas team. Early in my career, I thought it would be funny to tell my boss a derogatory joke about Texas. Well, he was a Texan, and he did not take kindly to the joke. I transferred departments not long thereafter.

Mike has a wealth of wireless technology and leadership experience, and a vast network of relationships in the industry. As director of engineering at Essentia, Mike will be working to identify and cultivate new business opportunities. He will be responsible for creating a sales strategy to meet revenue and investment goals, as well as incubating new business models, and driving industry leading customer satisfaction in combination with our proven operational teams.

Employment History

Mike has worked for major wireless carriers and consulting firms over the last 3 decades. During his career, Mike led planning, engineering, and operations organizations of over 400 people, with large geographies, and capital deployments well over $500M. He held key roles in leading merger integration and technology evolution projects, including early CDMA and LTE deployments.

Mike previously held executive network positions at Alltel, and joined Verizon as executive director in Kansas City when Alltel was acquired by Verizon in 2009.

Most recently, Mike held the position of director of engineering at Verizon in Charlotte, where he was responsible for deploying small cells, in-building systems, and venue solutions, while also increasing dark fiber penetration in the carrier’s largest market, during a period of phenomenal data volume growth.
