Most Embarrassing Professional Moment

As a new employee of the Cellular One Company, I was at my first management meeting as was the President of our company.  She was a young high energy executive, and I was told very relaxed and amicable.  I thought I would make a good impression by approaching her first and introducing myself.  I said “Hello Sherie my name is Guy”. She said “hello Guy, um – who is Sherie”?  I was so young and nervous I called her by my wife’s first name instead of hers. She was a good sport about it – but great first impression…

Employment History

Guy lagendyk has spent over 37 years in the telecommunications engineering profession holding a multitude of engineering and operations leadership roles. The last 22 years Guy held several executive level engineering and operations positions with Verizon Wireless including Director Of Operations, Director Of Engineering, and Director of System Performance.  In those roles Guy led a highly experienced team of professionals in the design, planning, and implementation of Verizon’s industry leading and award winning 4G and 5G based data and voice wireless network.

Guys defining achievement was overseeing the planning, design , budgetary management, and deployment of Verizon’s evolution from CDMA wireless technology to today’s state of the art 4G LTE and 5G network over a four state market in the Midwest.  This achievement encompassed hundreds of millions of dollars of 4G LTE network equipment including the placement of macro and small cells, LTE and VoLTE network elements, CRAN/LTE Advanced technologies, switching equipment, and in-building and large venue DAS systems.
